Executive Director, Office for Access and Opportunity
Bio: Lucila Loera is the Executive Director with the Office for Access & Opportunity and Interim SSS Director at Washington State University/Pullman campus. She provides leadership and direction of institutional efforts to ensure the success and wellbeing of students. Concentrated efforts over the years include three areas: access for first-generation, migrant/seasonal farmworker students and low-income student populations; student development and retention; and procuring external funding for support services. She provides the executive leadership in areas of fiscal management, human resources, and legislative compliance of access and opportunity programs. Leading other initiatives include addressing Food Insecurity and First-Generation Initiatives such as 1GA abroad. She also serves as a member of the on-call crisis Student Affairs response team and board member and awards committee chair for the WSU Alumni Association. She is a long-standing resource, with a strategic ability to build institutional and interdisciplinary coalitions, and a catalyst for institutional efforts to build a diverse and inclusive campus environment. Lucila earned her master’s degree in counseling psychology at Washington State University and her bachelor’s degree in social ecology from the University of California, Irvine. She is currently working on her doctorate degree at Colorado State University. Born and raised in Southern California she has been in Pullman for over 25 years with her husband, son, and now their newly adopted puppy.
